Welcome to another series everyone!

I decided to made this Is It Worth Reading? series solely for novellas, sequels or prequels of a book or a series that didn't count as primary work of the whole series by the author. So as you might know, some (by some i mean mostly) authors releases a side story for their series, which release before the first book, between the series or even after the last book but they can't count as a next book but just a companion, in simple word, this include all short read that related to the main project (series) that the author working on. This series will also include reviewing companion book that non related to the timeline of the story in series but related to the series or the character in the book. So, in this series of is it worth reading? i'll rate is it worth reading them or just simply skip them and you still didn't miss much after all.

This is gonna be a short review for a such short stories. So i expect it will be lighter to read but fun and efficient? (we'll see about the last part, lol) so you might find the review probably a bit different than my regular review. But i hope you still like it anyway.

So today's first chapter, i want to talk about a novella by Holy Black from A Folk of the Air series (or Cruel Prince series just in case you are not familiar about the series name).

Reading Order

You can easily learn the timeline of the novella by the author once you search it in Goodreads. Goodreads provide the timeline in the title of the book. Just in case you're not familiar with Goodreads, here's a bit explanations. Every book in Goodreads will be labeled with numbers after the title if it's part of a series. The Lost Sister labeled (The Folk of the Air # 1.5) after the title, which mean you can directly read it after you read the first book (The Cruel Prince) and before the second book (The Wicked King).

What Is It All About?

Just in case you haven't really read the first book of it, you can check out my review by clicking the the picture below.

So this book is unlike the series, which based on Jude's POV, this one based on her twins, Taryn point of view. The book is basically her trying to explain what happened and why to Jude (well, it's not that she talking to her directly, but the "YOU" part here is definitely directing to Jude).
So in the first book, Locke an elf who always love something dramatic, kind of courting Jude but turns out decided to marry her sister Taryn instead. Jude who feel betrayed both, by Locke who played his heart and Taryn who knows that Locke kiss her and sort of dating Jude but didn't say a thing about it.
In this book Taryn explain why she being so secretive about her relationship with Locke and why she keep silent even she knows that Locke dating her twin sister Jude in front of her.

“We—the Folk—don’t love like you do, perhaps you shouldn’t trust me with your heart. I might break it.”
Locke

Is It Worth Reading?

So this is how this series will roll. In each of chapter i will say the barometer whether this book is worth reading or not

1. Skip it : doesn't really related to the whole series, in meaning you can totally skip this one without feeling missing a puzzle from the series. Kind of waste your time to read it.
2. Neutral : Kind of related but kind of not. It depends on your perspective, you can either read it or skip it.
3. Read it : Totally a must to read this one, you might miss a piece of puzzle if you skip this one in whole series.

My Verdict

Neutral. This one can be related can be also not related. If you want to hear Taryn's explanations, you can read it. But i'd say if you don't read it you also didn't miss a thing.
