“Grief as a claw. The claw of a massive monster you couldn’t see, that reached down out of the sky and seized hold of you, punching out your breath, leaving only a pain you couldn’t wriggle away from or avoid. You just had to endure it for as long as the claw had you in its grasp.”

"I think you cannot root out love entirely. I think where there has been love, there will always be embers, as the remains of a bonfire outlast the flame"

you have just been recruited by the Monster Police. You may be wondering, why? [...]
8.You know too much, and should be recruited because the secrecy of the Shadow World has already been compromised for you.
9. You know too little; it would be helpful to the Shadowhunters if you knew more.
10. You know exactly the right amount, making you a natural recruit.

I would say this suppose to be included in is it worth reading series to be honest, but since it's not a novella, but counted as book number 5 in the fallen series, i decided to do a normal book review instead.
A Bit About the Series
This series is talking about Luce who's moving to a school for troubled kid and attracted to Daniel also a bit of love triangle slash crush with Cam. Both of them are Angels, Fallen Angels to be exact. Cam who's working with the Hell side, and Daniel who's still the "kind but banished from heaven" kind of Angel. This series took you to a different kind of adventure in each book, some in time traveling, which is fun to me, some in dark fantasy. In the end Luce discover that she's also an angel who didn't choose side like Daniel who got banished and cursed for meet in each lives, and dead when she fall for Daniel in that lives.
Synopsis
This book set in different story apart from the Daniel and Luce, actually AFTER the Daniel and Luce story, with Cam POV. The Fallen Angel who's taking Lucifer side. He actually start to believe in love lead by the revolution love of Daniel and Luce. Cam remember of his love, Lilith, who once he loved and almost got married, but didn't because he's damned and can't go to temple, which Lilith insist to hold their wedding in temple. They break up and the story end like that.
That glimpse of story of Cam and Lilith was told in the series before, but this book is focusing to that couple. Cam discovered that Lilith isn't in heaven, but in Hell specially created by Lucifer for her where in each live she's a miserable girl, and hate her life. Cam made a deal with Lucifer to make Lilith fall in love with him in 15 days, release Lilith from that Hell, but if he failed he'll be the official Lucifer's right hand deep in the hell. And of course, Lucifer didn't let him do it in fair way, he did interfere Cam's efforts.
My Review
The plot of this book is back and fort from the past then to the present and back again to the past. I don't really hate that kind of book but somehow you might find it annoying.
I do understand that because of her heartbreaking history with Cam long time ago made her automatically hate Cam without any reason why, but she just didn't try to understand why and didn't want to listen, quickly jump into a conclusion, which is i think as a bad character. And also the inconsistent happen when Cam is not in the band, then back to the band then not again back and fort because of how easily Lilith to get swayed also annoying to me.
Cam in other hand doesn't really looks like who he is in the whole series (from the first book i mean). Of course he still charming by the appearance in the first book, mysterious, dangerous. In this one he's just miserable, okay, he's deeply in love, but overall he just didn't went out as charming he is in the first book, i didn't feel the spark of him as the main character. I used to like him a lot more than Daniel throughout the whole Fallen series, but this one is not working on me
My Rating
I would rate is nah (go to my rating system for further information if you new for my rating system). I understand why Lauren Kate want to release a book with Cam POV because he is indeed an unique character throughout the fallen series, but i guess she failed to made it shine in this book. Some people said Lauren Kate must move on from this series already and stop adding book to it, i definitely agree for that. Sounds a bit rude, but well... sometimes a series is great left just like that without any additions.
