Is It Worth Reading? The Audition by Rachel Hartman
November 12, 2020
"Music teaches you about harmony, [...] If You're too timid with your instrument, it takes advantage. The notes will sound incompetent even if you play them right. If you are to harsh it exacts a subtle revenge in timbre. Sometimes an unsubtle revenge, depending on the instrument."
Welcome to the second day of my Novella Week. Just in case you didn't notice it yet, i've start my Novella Week from the last post of Is It Worth Series : Diaper Study by Maria V Snyder. Yes, i'll do a novella tour for this week, so expect a lot of episode in this series for this week, and i will post more often in this week instead of twice a week, it will be three times a week! Since it's a short read anyway.
Reading Order
By our book bible Goodreads, this book is labeled as Seraphina 0.5 which means this one is prequel from the whole Seraphina duology. If you don't know about this series, this is a duology with Seraphina as the main character, half human half dragon. In the kindom of Goredd, where dragon exist and living side by side but kind of in tension, in thread of war between them. A fun side of this story is, that dragon can transform themselves into human and living among them, of course that's kind of illegal.
What is it all About?
Is It Worth Reading?
First of all, i finished the duology last year, yet i just found out lately that this novella is exist, so i kind of have a blurry memory about this part of auditions, i think this audition scene also included in the duology, i already know that the princess actually know that the last finalist that she going to prank is Seraphina, but the different in this novella is that this one included their conversations about music, about Dulcimer as Princess's instruments.
My Verdict
Again, as always, go to this link if you're new to my blog and my rating system. I rate it as Skip it. I don't think it's necessary to read this one since it's already mentioned in the series, although not that detailed. But consider it you save a lot of time by skipping this one because i don't think you loose a lot of important things. Of course it's fun to read this one because it's show how unique Princess Grisselda's character is, but again it's no hurt to skip this one.
