“There is strong danger in a person who can create such powerful deceit they can no longer distinguish their own lies from the truth.”

Synopsis
The story start with our main character Kol, who narrating the story about the first encounter with the one he tells the story to, which is the girl from another clan, Mya. Kol is from Manu clan, he has 4 other younger brothers, he and Pek (his younger brother) are facing a bit problem because there's no woman in their age in their clan, not until May and her sister and her brother who is the Elder of Olen clan come to visit.
Seeing Mya for the first time he got the impression that she didn't really like her. Seeri, her sister in other hand is showing a lot of interest to Pek. They were going to hunt for mammoth but it end up Kol is chased by a saber-toothed cat, and Mya killed it. Their visit ends shortly although Kol's clan already built a hut specially for them, finding out that Chev, Mya's brother is already promised Seeri to betrothed to his friend in his clan, and seeing Pek has a big interest in her made Chev decide that they should stop that visit soon and go home.
Pek who's can't help with his feeling just decide to visit Olen's clan, but it has been days since he gone, and his mother become worried. Kol decided to go to Olen clan by walk. Mya's attitude just didn't help him to like her although he tried a lot to give a lot of good impression. The mysteries of Mya's attitude revealed after he met another girl, Lo who used to be in same clan with her.
My Review
Okay, by the synopsis you probably guess, oh this is a book about a man who has problem about his love life. Well.. i can't really disagree with that, but it's absolutely more than that. I love the writing style, how the story takes from Kol's point of view, to "you" referring to Mya. At first i was impressed by this setting of writing style because i never encounter this kind of writing style, we are the Mya who listen to Kol's story in this part. And it's one of the point why i love this book a lot.
Kol is one of the type of main male character that i love, the kind of soft and sweet boy, but also a strong one. The way he tried to fulfill his duty, although he hates to kill mammoth, unlike his younger brother Pek, who is such an excellent hunter, he like hunting others, Honey. I got the glimpse of how honey is so precious in this stone age (oh yeah did i mention that the plot set in stone age?). He is also compassion about being helpful, at some point when he think he didn't do much to help, he tried other thing to help, because of his sense of responsibility is so huge.
“Let me take a turn,” Pek says.
I wave him off. “You brought down the kill; I’ll put up the hut.”
Kol is probably one of my fave male character now by how sweet he is. Of course he got some mood swings from how Mya treated her, but i just can't help to support his efforts every time when it comes to get Mya's feeling back to him. He just deserves more love! And of course we can see how he start form the shadow of his younger brother in everything in his clan, to the hero in Olen Clan.
I have no other choice. If I stop, I could die.If I stop, you could die. [...]
I cannot let you die, because I cannot face a future without you.
― Kol ―
Again the story is not only include love interest between Kol, but his whole family (even to his young brothers) but some plot twist in dark secret about the clans and history behind it, we got some betrayal, or should i call it deceiving story? that can lead a doom in whole clan, not just Maru clan.
My Verdict
this book is a Woot Woot! for me (read my rating system here if you don't get what it means). I personally love this book by how light the story in some point but yet it still a page turning. I even finished it in less than 24hrs and surprised that i can't put it down after i got into such a slump for a long time.
