“Such is human memory... you forget the truth and believe what makes you feel better.”

Hello everyone! I suppose to post this one yesterday, sorry for the late post! Anyway welcome to "Rick Riordan Fiesta!" I will post some review about his books for the rest of the month since i always start the year with his book (if you don't know already, yes, he is one of my favorite author) this time i will review about Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series, so keep an eye for it! Without further ado, let's dive in!
Synopsis
Magnus Chase has been homeless for two years after the death of her mom, attacked by wolfs. He found out that his uncle, suddenly searching for him after letting him struggle in the street for years. Uncle Randolph talked to him for his birthright legacy, a weapon that has been lost for thousand years and asked him to retrieve it, when suddenly the fire giant attack the city.
That day he found out about who is his father actually is, what the story about his family, and the reality of Norse gods that he thought just myth before and other creatures along with it.
My Review
I always know about Norse mythology, but not much. I know this series will be taking Norse mythology as the center of the story. Thanks to the Marvel Avenger movies, i know a bit about Thor, actually i know Loki a lot more before the movie since it mentioned few times in comics that i've read way before i know Thor. I'm really glad that the center of the god in the story is not Thor or Loki, but the gof that i've never know before, Frey. I really like the fact that Rick Riordan didn't pick the obvious.
I really had a big expectation for this one a lot since i've been trying to complete the whole series since two years ago (or three?) i really like the cover concept a lot, the color theme of if. But to be honest i was a bit disappointed by the plot a little bit. Magnus is the son of Frey, he got the right of the Sword of Summer, but he didn't really use the sword, instead the sword magically do things to him instead. So i think Magnus didn't really show his power a lot.
Thor's character is quite catchy but annoying, but i guess he indeed an annoying character, and a bit clumsy, how can a god lost his powerful weapon? but i guess it's Rick Riordan's style, to give a surprising character for famous god, it happened in few series before, so...
My Verdict
It's a Woot! Woot! for me (direct here if you dunno what it means) a bid sad about the less show of Magnus ability because the sword outshines him, but apart from that i really like the book.
