February 02, 2022
"Muggles not to try playing Quidditch at home; it is, of course, an entirely fictional sport and nobody really plays it.
― Professor Dumbledore ―
Hello readers! Welcome back to the series that has the most chapter of it "Is it worth reading?" series where i will give you a short review for short book such as novellas and companion books and give you the answer is it worth your time to read it or just skip it because i've read it for you! Today we are back to companion book from famous series : Harry Potter. Without further ado, let's go!
Reading Order
1. Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander (you will be so familiar with this name if you've watch the movie)
2. Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp (which is this book)
3. The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling (which the book review coming soon!)
So as usual i will suggest you the reading order, but i think you can read these three randomly, but i suggest you read at least harry potter series before reading them.
What is it All About?
This is the book that explain to the detail all about quidditch game. From how it invented, every equipment that needed and how they evolve around the ages, how it develop in each countries, and more! The funny thing is the concept of the book that it's actually a library book from Hogwarts, written by an author in Harry potter's world, but mentioning JK Rowling for the book sales are for donations. Which is a fun concept
Is It Worth Reading?
I personally like the concept of the book. That this book is actually a book from Hogwart's library, you can see the library card in it and who have borrowed the book. This book with the permission from the librarian by Dombledore demand, finally released to the muggle world, so we (as reader) can read it.
"Please be careful how you treat this book. Do not rip out the pages. Do not drop it in the bath. I cannot promise that Madam Pince will not swoop down on you, wherever you are, and demand a heavy fine."
― Professor Dumbledore ―
The book start with the development of the broomstick and how games start to develop from that. Also the rules and the Quidditch team around the world (specially Britain and Ireland).
My Verdict
Apart from the fun concept, i feel sometimes a bit bored by too much information that i don't really need since i'm not a big fan of this game, i just curious. But it's fun to know trivia things isn't it? I will recommend you to Skip It, if you are not a big fan of Harry Potter, and neutral if you are, it doesn't really needed to know the whole story of the book in order to understand the whole series of Harry potter.
