Mid-Year Freak Out Book tag
July 11, 20201. Best Book so far this year?
Actually i gave less 5 stars read this year in comparison with last year read. Probably because the more i read the book the more i discover my taste of reading? I become more selective to give 5 stars for rating of the book i've read, kind of saving for the best? The book that easily got 5 stars for me is House of Hades. As you might know by now that i'm a big fan of Rick Riordan books since i read Percy Jackson, i love his writing style and his joke. How he can add it in between of nerve wrecking scene in the book without really ruin it.
House of Hades i think is the best book in Blood of Olympus series. The adventure to the other world is so new, and a bit of dark which is usually we didn't really get it from his books so it's kind of special to me.
2. Best Sequel you've read so far in 2020?
Clockwork Angel. I think this book is the best for the whole TID series. Not only because it's the last book which mean final but because the complex of the story, the bond between the character and the plot twist! Just read them if you haven't already.
3. New Release you haven't read yet but want to?
The Ballad of Songbird and Snake by Suzane Colins. I love Hunger Games and dystopian books, so going back to the glory of dystopian books and hunger games is a perfect combinations!
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
A Beautiful and Foolish Endeavor by Hank Green. It has been released by the time i post this blog but yeah i'm so excited about the book. I haven't read the first book because obviously i know that there will be a sequel for the An Absolute Remarkable Things, so i've been waiting for this book to be released so i can start reading it.
5. Biggest Disappointment?
City of Bones. I meant, for a hype books and from a famous author, i expect more. Or probably my fault for having such a big expectations to it. if you curious about it you can just read my full review about this book here
6. Biggest Surprise?
Tweak by Nic Sheff. This is a memoir of Crystal Meth addict. Cruelly honest, shockingly sad and brutally heartbreaking. I will do a book to movie adaptation review for this book, so keep an eye for it!
7. Favorite New Author?
David Sheff and Nic Sheff. Their honest memoirs just blow my mind and break my heart. Also the first of non fiction author that i gave 5 stars in my whole life. (Well.. partly because i rarely read non fictions, but heck their book are amazing!)
8. Newest Fictional Crush?
Elio Perlman! What can i do? His character is my type! He is honest and curious, such an explorer. He's a music prodigy, he plays guitar, piano and read books. Trully my type, except that i'm not his. lol! Oh what a character....
9. Newest Favorite character?
Will Herondale. I always love troubled man. Sarcastic is one of my fave trait in a character.
10. Book that made you cry?
11. Book that made you happy?
The Lost Hero! It's not only because it's the first book of my 5 star reads but because when i got it in my hand i finally complete my physical collections and i was so happy. Actually i was literally screaming at that time ( i was forgot which one i order, Lost Hero or the last book The Blood of Olympus)
12. Favorite book to film adaptation?
Call Me by Your Name. This is probably the most re-watched movie ever apart from Twilight (i watched twilight every night before sleep back in my college life) i love the cinematography of this movie, background song, the story itself of course, and yes, Timothee Chalamet (like i haven't mention his name in almost every post of my blog. Sorry guys). You can also check my review about it here.
13. Favorite review you've written?
Beautiful Boy. No more explanations, just go read the review here.
14. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year?
Actually i've bought a lot of books this year. Mostly during BBW event and some crazy discount. Apart from that two, i love my A Darker Shade of Magic series because i always love white cover books, and also my Harry Potter series by Scholastic that show the beautiful Hogwarts in its spine if they set together (which they always are)
15. What book do you need to read before the end of the year?
A forest of a Thousand Lantern. This book has been in my shelf since 2017 and i have to read it asap because it's the last book that i bought in 2017.
