Is It Worth Reading : Demigods & Magicians by Rick Riordan

We are back with another is it worth reading? series where i will rate a novella or companion of a series and rate it whether is it worth your time for reading it or not. This time i bring you the one that i've been anticipating to read this year since i've read the Kane Chronicles series : Demigods & Magicians, which is a crossover story between Kane Siblings and Percy Jackson with Annabeth.
First of all, shall we take a time to look at that pretty cover? i mean not just the book cover but also my post cover. It's so pretty! I never been a big fan of purple, but this one just feel so vibrant, and pleasing in my eye, tho i always prefer pastel-tone color (well some part are pastels i guess? i dunno i'm being so random) anyway, let's dive in!
Reading Order
As always according to our book bible Goodreads, this book counted as Percy Jackson & Kane Chronicles Crossover Series #1-3 . The story include three short stories, The Son of Sobek, The Staff of Serapis and The Crown of Ptolemy. But this time it didn't include which series its belong or what order like novellas usually are (i mean with number after title, 0.5, 3.5 kind of thing, you know?) so it's a companion book rather than novella, but no worries, i personally gonna give you the reading order for this.
1. You must read the Percy Jackson series first. It's not really necessary for you to read the whole series, in order to read it, but to avoid some spoiler for the relationship (which you probably already know) and since i'm an OCD, i will read PJO for this one.
2. Read the whole Kane Chronicles
3. Then read this one right away, since the story is AFTER the ending of the third book of the Serpent's shadow.
What is it All About?
The story continues with Annabeth meeting Sadie. They realize that the god that they met isn't just greek god, but a hybrid god between Greek and Egyptian. That made them to work together, combining Greek and Egyptian spells together to beat them.
The last one is the one who has been making the first two incident before. The one and only the crazy ghost, Setne . He was trying to make himself a god, Greek and Egyptian. That made Percy, Annabeth, Carter and Sadie to combine (again) Greek and Egyptian. Percy even become a host for a god! which is funny.
Is It Worth Reading?
At first i was going to read Brooklyn House Magician's Manual first, which turn out some of the missing piece of the story is in this book. The story just fun to read, i finish this book in one sitting, and i definitely like Percy in here, also Carter is never fail to be a clumsy person here.
The writing style as always is just my fave writing style ever, easy to read, fun and funny for every jokes that Riordan put there just crack me up, i really like how Percy constantly joking with Carter, or bickering, Percy and Sadie, Carter and Annabeth. And Percy, again, is just helplessly romantic. I just can't! Such a boyfriend material.
“As for Sadie, she didn’t appear interested in strategy. [...] She reminded me of someone …
Then it occurred to me. She looked like a younger version of Annabeth, but her fidgeting and hyperness reminded me of … well, me. If Annabeth and I ever had a daughter, she might be a lot like Sadie.
Whoa."

My Verdict
By this part you probably already know for this one. Read it! Definitely worth your time to read this one, plus it just fun to finally met the two main characters (or four this time) from two different stories in one book.
